A Word from the Chef:
Kicking off our summer vacation in the South Pacific, we first flew from Miami to Dallas in AA’s domestic first class, which was exactly what you’d expect. I haven’t been to DFW in a few years, and both the airport and the city have grown substantially in recent years. It was cool to see an EVA Dreamliner, a Cathay A350 and our Fiji A350 all lined up for evening departures. DFW is one of the few airports in the country currently to host the credit card lounge trifecta - Amex Centurion Lounge, Capital One Lounge and Chase Sapphire Lounge.
We chose the Sapphire Lounge, given it was the latest opening at the airport. We were flying Fiji Airways, so logically we should’ve used the American Airlines Flagship Lounge. However, Chase and Capital One have greatly stepped up their lounge game. I have a hard time imagining AA’s decade-old facility is better than the credit card lounges.
Plat Principal:
I previously reviewed the Sapphire Lounge at JFK, and the Dallas location should look similar to that. Most of these lounges are located in Terminal D at DFW, where long-haul flights tend to depart from.

Upon entering the lounge, there were some uncomfortable-looking chairs in front of the reception, which should come in handy as overflow seating.

Once checked in, two elevators take you upstairs to reach the main lounge.

The lounge space is rectangular and follows the orientation of the concourse below. Even though there are big windows, they just look down onto the gates.

Plenty of seating options are available on both sides of the main corridor. In terms of design aesthetic, mmm, have you ever been to like an Arlo hotel?
The DFW Chase lounge has a special whiskey room, intended to offer a slightly more sophisticated reprieve from the chaos of travel. Sadly, and as was all too common these days, two poorly behaved young children terrorized the whole room with boisterous screaming and romping. Honestly, if you can’t swing both the annual fee and a traveling nanny, choose the nanny! They’ll make your life 10x better than a house chardonnay ever could.

Further into the lounge was a small buffet area. Dishes here were individually plated, a welcome trend in the modern day lounge landscape. I don’t know how a global pandemic made some of y’all even worse about personal hygiene.

As far as food goes, Chase Sapphire lounges do have made-to-order options. That fact alone doesn’t directly translate into high quality…

Digestif:
This brings us to the reality of lounges worldwide, which is just how gross most of them are. For such a new lounge, you can see stains (and crumbs also) on seat cushions everywhere. We spent roughly an hour at the lounge, and the dirty tables around us were never cleared, despite the waitstaff traversing past them to serve us.

At the end of the day, there’s only so much one can expect from a lounge in the US. Obviously if I could afford the PS at DFW I wouldn’t be complaining here so y’all leave me alone😭.
